Why YPT?

BSA Youth Protection Mission Statement
True youth protection can be achieved only through the focused commitment of everyone in Scouting. It is the mission of Youth Protection volunteers and professionals to work within the Boy Scouts of America to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at the national, regional, area, council, district, and unit levels.​

The Boy Scouts of America places the greatest importance on creating the most secure environment possible for our youth members. To maintain such an environment, the BSA developed numerous procedural and leadership selection policies and provides parents and leaders with resources for the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing programs.

Who YPT?

All registered adult leaders in the Boy Scouts of America are REQUIRED to have current YPT training completed within the past two calendar years. Tiger Parents and Lion Parents must also complete the training.

Step Two

Answer “No” to the prior association question

If you have an existing member ID in the BSA system, you can login with that account or let the system search for you

Step Four

Login to My Scouting

Use your new ID and password to login to the My Scouting system

Step Six

Select “Youth Protection Training”

This will launch the Youth Protection Training online course for leaders and parents of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. The other courses listed are for other Scouting programs

Step Eight

Notify us of your completion

Once done, you will be given the opportunity to print your certificates of completion. Please print and return them to your Den Leader. This is REQUIRED to confirm that our training obligations have been completed prior to our annual rechartering
